Clicks in Cyberspace.

I like social media sites, but they are way to click-ish and closeminded. Like that high school kind of click-ish. It's a bit annoying. So I'm chilling away from them for a while. A long while. I'll stick to what I like. Writing and music.

Sorry ya'll.

I'm Back.

From Sacramento. And, I want to go back.

I plan to go back sometime this summer. I enjoyed it there. It was great getting out of Vegas for a while, too. Who am I kidding? I always make an effort to leave here every weekend...lol. Anyway, I took a trip up there to watch my sister take place in a black beauty pageant. The Miss Black Sacramento pageant. The winner received a phat college scholarship.

Well, unforunately she didn't win, but she did place. She got 2nd runner up. Not bad for her 1st pageant. But oh well, I think my sis still did extraordinary.

I'm not much of the pageant girl type, but it was fun watching my sister do it all.

Essentials.

I've been in Denver for about 3 weeks now. And am finally going home Friday. The job sent us here, all expenses paid, for some new training. I'm not at ALL anxious to go back home, just because I know when I get back, I will have major work to do. Tons of cases to work on. But, oh well. Such is life.

Everyone is whining about getting back to Vegas, but not I. lol The only thing that I miss the most about being away from home, is my laptop. That's it. Nothing else. lol This trip has been wonderful!!! I've had such a great time. But, I made the worst decision of my life leaving my laptop at home. I have never missed an electronic device as much as I miss my laptop now. Call me an addict if you will. It is, what it is. lol

Anyhoo, every time I visit a place, I always vow to check out a few good record/music stores in the city. Tomorrow I plan to visit Wax Trax, and from there, Jerry's Records, and a few others. Anxious to go to Wax Trax since I heard that it is the place to be in Denver. If you know of any others, shoot me an email.

I wonder if I will ever run into DJ Lowkey out here? lol Just a thought.

Check you later. Hope all is well. :-)

Brittany Bosco, For The World.

Look out for this girl. She's going to fly in 2009, I can feel it. Reminds me of a mixture of Jasmine Sullivan and Muhsinah. And, maybe you can throw in Janelle and Yahzarah, too. Thanks to 8th for the playlist.

In Honor (And Respect) Of Dilla Weekend...

I will just like to say, Happy Born Day, rest in peace to Mr. James Dewitt Yancey. I usually dont talk much about Dilla, but felt the need to today.

My most memorable Dilla experience was back in 2005. I was fortunate enough to see Jay Dee live in Los Angeles @ The Roxy Theater, actually, a few months before he went back into the hospital (again) one last time and passed away. I remember him looking very frail, skinny, and sick during his set because he had just left the hospital, for the millionth time, some weeks ago. And I can hear all the whispers as he spun on the tables..."Wow, Jay looks really bad"...or "I hope he's okay"...and "Whoa. Jay doesn't look like himself at all, I hardly recognized him", among other comments. But despite all the uncomfortable atmosphere at site of Jay's physical condition, he was still able to ROCK his set to much amazement. The silence turned to cheerful roars from the crowd, as he knocked out record after record.

That was one thing that I always admired about Dilla. He was certainly one to please his fans, even in his most unhealthy stages. Only because that is how big his heart was.

I was on the Stones Throw site this morning listening to a live show post from 2004. Check it out when you get a chance. Very good stuff. I'm sure they will be posting more memories in the next few days to come. They also have a few interviews with various artists giving their respects.

Before I go, I'll post two of my (many) favorite Dilla Tributes. I'm sure some of you have seen these circulating around before. What are your faves?

Here's To Great Weekends & My Opinion Of Notorious.

Hi everyone.

This weekend has been great so far. New movies, great football games, Inauguration coverage...I'm in heaven right now. lol I'm not rushing to go back to work next week at all. lol

Hope everyone is having as lovely a weekend as I am. :-)

I went to see the movie Notorious, yesterday.

I heard such good reviews about it prior to seeing it myself. My opinion on the movie?: I really wanted to love it, really I did. But I expected more out of it. I didn't like it. It didn't WOW me as much as it did others. Reminded me of a doctored up straight to DVD movie. lol But one great highlight of the movie that I really liked, was the individual rawness of the actors and actresses. They all did a really good job with trying to portray each real life/past person, but the reenactment of some of the once real-life "scenes" didn't WOW me, neither the director's choice of some scenes...except for the funeral scene and the scenes of watching Biggie as a child, growing up. Didnt like the casting choice for Lil Cease and Tupac, at all...that was a laugh in its self. lol I kept getting flashbacks of 'Losing Isiah'...lol Anyway...Overall I give the movie 6/10.

But don't let my opinion of the movie deter you from seeing it. :-)

Well, about to get back to watching these Inauguration shows...

Peace all.
